By Joy Fidler, Assistant Manager at Stafford's Crooked River Lodge
I was encouraged to enroll in the Hospitality Training Institute of Michigan's Hospitality Business Management Certificate program. This 12 week course allows students to gain new skills, improve on current skills and gain industry certifications, including ServSafe manager certifications, leadership training, and more. The course focuses on a variety of topics such as financial management, effective leadership, food safety and more.
With an established job, the course's hybrid schedule allowed me to keep my normal work schedule while also attending classes and completing the online modules. After successfully completing the course, I can say with confidence that it was the best professional decision I have ever made. I was able to take what I learned in the classroom and directly apply it to my current position as the assistant general manager of the Crooked River Lodge. There is growth in this industry, and with the right mindset, growth is limitless. My professional journey has been fueled by my drive to always be learning and improving. I highly recommend HTIM.
