Can you share more about your business?
Saginaw Country Club (SCC) is a private club offering golf, dining, and social experiences to its members. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service, maintaining high hospitality standards, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for our members and guests. Our dedicated team ensures that every experience at SCC is enjoyable and memorable. Have you sent employees to the HTIM course? If so, how many? Yes, we have had many employees participate in the HTIM course through both the on-site and offsite options. We continue to encourage participation as we see the benefits firsthand in their professional growth and contributions to SCC. How does your business benefit from employees completing the course? After finishing the course, employees have fresh ideas, refined skills and a stronger sense of leadership. This leads to more efficient operations, improved guest satisfaction, and a more motivated team. Additionally, their enhanced knowledge helps us uphold the highest hospitality standards and continuously improve the experience for our members. What are your thoughts on the training-on-location option for employees? On-location training is a fantastic opportunity to provide education in a familiar environment while keeping employees engaged in their day-to-day responsibilities. It allows for real-time learning, immediate application of skills, and better collaboration among staff. If feasible, we would welcome more on-location training opportunities to further enhance our team’s expertise. What advice do you have for others in the hospitality industry who are looking for ways to step up in their career? Continuous learning is key in the hospitality industry. Taking advantage of training programs, networking with industry professionals, and seeking mentorship can all help individuals advance in their careers. Developing strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills will set professionals apart and open doors for growth opportunities. What advice do you have for other hospitality businesses who want to help employees improve their skills? Investing in employee development is investing in the success of the business. Providing access to professional training programs, encouraging continued education, and fostering a culture of learning will lead to a more skilled and motivated workforce. Recognizing and rewarding employees for their growth and accomplishments also encourages ongoing engagement and retention. Is there anything else you’d like to share? At SCC, we believe that great hospitality starts with a well-trained and empowered team. We are committed to providing our employees with the tools they need to excel, and we’ve seen firsthand how professional training enhances both individual careers and the overall success of our club. We encourage others in the industry to prioritize staff development, as it is one of the best investments a hospitality business can make. I am glad to see programs like this available in a small town like ours to promote hospitality careers. Ready to bring our course to your business?
