How long have you been working in the industry? I have been immersed in the hospitality industry for my entire life, thanks to my mom who owns a catering company. Growing up, I was involved in various aspects of the business, from event planning to customer service, and I also grew up working at food shows. This early exposure provided me with a strong foundation and a deep understanding of the industry. Professionally, I have been actively working in the hospitality sector for over 10 years, combining my lifelong experience with formal roles in marketing and management. Can you share more background on your current role? I currently serve as the Senior Content & Marketing Manager at a nationally recognized and awarded resort on Mackinac Island. In this role, I develop and execute an integrated year-round marketing and content strategy to drive revenue and enhance the resort's brand presence. My responsibilities include managing segmented marketing plans for our rooms, resort activities, and food & beverage outlets, and overseeing content development for both earned and social media. This position requires a strategic and hands-on approach, combining my hospitality marketing expertise with a deep understanding of branding, communications, and digital strategies in a unique and collaborative environment. Working in a place where history comes alive and where the natural beauty of Lake Huron surrounds us, I am committed to creating memorable experiences for our guests. What was your first job in hospitality? How did you get into this industry? My first job in hospitality was working for my mom as she worked for a food broker. As a pre-teen, I was involved in various tasks such as event planning, customer service, and assisting at food shows - probably skirting a few child labor laws in the process! This early exposure ignited my passion for hospitality, leading me to pursue a formal education in Marketing and ultimately a career in hospitality. My journey has since led to my current role as the Senior Content & Marketing Manager at Mission Point Resort. Interesting and fun fact: My favorite place to travel is Las Vegas, Nevada! Even though I do not participate in the typical rowdy Vegas behavior, I enjoy the wide variety of activities and food available at all hours of the day! Comments are closed.
