Why did you want to enroll in the HTIM business management course?
I was introduced to the HTIM course during the UNCON HR hospitality conference. Along with my colleagues, we saw this as a valuable chance for our hotel leaders to further develop and enhance their hospitality management skills. I chose to participate in the course to assess its potential benefits for our supervisors and managers, as well as enrich my own leadership abilities as a hospitality professional. 

How will this help you step up in your career?
I believe this course has provided me with valuable insights into the roles of managers and supervisors. It has helped me pinpoint areas where we can concentrate on training and development for existing and future leaders, paving the way for their success. We will certainly be recommending this course as a start!
 
What advice do you have for others in the hospitality industry who are looking for ways to grow their career?
Seek out and take advantage of opportunities like this! By demonstrating your willingness to take the initiative to improve yourself as a hospitality professional and leader, you are likely to unlock more possibilities to advance in your career.
 
What was your favorite part of the HTIM business management course?
I loved having the opportunity to engage with fellow hospitality professionals and leaders. Every week following the course materials, we engaged in class discussions. These discussions provided a platform to hear perspectives and experiences from seasoned hospitality workers from various backgrounds which enhanced my understanding of course concepts and how to apply them in a real setting.
 
How long have you been working in the industry?
10 years.
 
Can you share more background on your current role?
I am a Human Resources Generalist for Lodgco Hospitality, a multi-brand hospitality management company specializing in hotels. My responsibilities revolve around recruiting, enhancing employee engagement and recognition, improving training initiatives, and overseeing internships.
 
What was your first job in hospitality? How did you get into this industry?
My first job in hospitality was as an activities attendant at a resort in Northern Michigan. I organized games, entertainment and activities for resort guests. I absolutely loved interacting with guests in such a fun environment and creating a positive impact on their overall experience. This position certainly motivated me to further explore career paths within hospitality.
 
Interesting and fun fact:
I love hiking different sections of the North Country Trail with my favorite hiking partner – my mom! We hope to one day complete the entire lower Michigan Chapter!
