This course gave me the tools to grow in my knowledge of the hospitality industry. It also helped build my confidence in my role. I feel like I am both more capable and more confident to grow in my career. What advice do you have for others in the hospitality industry who are looking for ways to grow their career? I would advise those who are looking to grow their careers to learn all they can about business management. This course by HTIM was a great way to learn more about different aspects of the hospitality business. Hands on learning paired with organized training/schooling is a great way to learn the business and understand the guest. What was your favorite part of the HTIM business management course? I enjoyed a lot of different things about the course, the classes that taught how to manage different people styles, the financial classes, our instructor Matthew Vogel was a fantastic teacher, the combination of online and in class courses, and much more. How long have you been working in the industry? I have worked for five years in the hotel industry and I have worked in various restaurants for about 15 years. Can you share more background on your current role? I started as a housekeeper at the Crooked River Lodge. I moved to the accounting department for a few months. Then during covid, I started on the front desk to have a more flexible schedule. After about a year, I was asked to train for the assistant manager job. What was your first job in hospitality? My first job in hospitality was as a banquet caterer. Interesting and fun fact: I love tacos and coffee! I have been to all 50 of the United States. Comments are closed.
