This course has helped me step up in my career by giving me the tools and confidence to make informed business decisions. As a self-employed private chef, understanding operations, management and financial fundamentals allows me to run my business more efficiently, expand opportunities and position myself for long-term success. What advice do you have for others in the hospitality industry who are looking for ways to grow their career? Never stop learning. Be open to gaining knowledge beyond your current role, especially in business and management. Investing in yourself, staying curious and being willing to learn new skills can open doors you may not have imagined. What was your favorite part of the HTIM business management course? My favorite part of the course was learning how to properly run a restaurant. Understanding structure, operations and best practices gave me a clearer picture of what it truly takes to manage a successful hospitality business. How long have you been working in the industry? I have worked in the hospitality industry for 31 years. Can you share more background on your current role? As a self-employed private chef, I create personalized dining experiences for clients while managing all aspects of my business. This includes menu planning, food preparation, client relations and overseeing daily operations to ensure quality and professionalism. What was your first job in hospitality? How did you get into this industry? My first hospitality job was cooking at a small lunchtime restaurant called Treats. I got the job because I was eager to learn and willing to absorb everything my boss was willing to teach me. That experience laid the foundation for my long career in hospitality.
