This class is going to help me grow. The information is going to propel my career and open doors for my future. What advice do you have for others in the hospitality industry who are looking for ways to grow their career? When it comes to advice for hospitality workers to grow their career, all I can say is be curious. We are in the industry of people and the industry is continuously evolving, so you too need to evolve! Get out, take chances, and always take the opportunity to network with other professionals. What was your favorite part of the HTIM business management course? My favorite part of the class was just the discussions and the networking! I can’t stress how important it is to make connections in this vast industry. How long have you been working in the industry? 11 years. I started as a caddie at the age of 14, making connections and networking and I started working in hotels at 17! Can you share more background on your current role? My current job at Firekeepers is the Front Desk Manager at the hotel. The property offers 446 rooms, is Triple AAA, 4 Diamond Property and our focus is people! My role is to grow leaders. I take pride in growing team members and helping them set goals, holding them accountable, and watching them grow, taking new positions and promotions within the casino. What was your first job in hospitality? How did you get into this industry? My first job in hospitality was when I was 14 as a caddie at the Kalamazoo Country Club! My dad has been in the food and beverage side of hospitality his whole life and that is what got me interested. But being a caddie was an amazing experience that kept my interest high, allowing me to meet industry professionals at such a young age. Comments are closed.
