This has helped me in building my tool kit in leadership, communication and client engagement, all of which directly support career advancement. What advice do you have for others in the hospitality industry who are looking for ways to grow their career? I suggest that other industry professionals enroll in this course! This class has taught me valuable skills in handling clients, building strong professional relationships and navigating challenging situations with confidence. What was your favorite part of the HTIM business management course? I truly enjoyed collaborating with other like-minded individuals and potential business partners. These collaborations allowed me to build meaningful connections, foster creativity and explore new possibilities for growth. How long have you been working in the industry? 18 years. Can you share more background on your current role? With 18 years of hospitality experience I have successfully catered over 1,000 events ranging from intimate gatherings to large upscale functions, ensuring a memorable experience for clients and guests alike. I have built strong relationships and partnered with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as a trusted and valuable collaborator. What was your first job in hospitality? How did you get into this industry? I began my career in hospitality as a server at Omni Hotel. From the very beginning I quickly developed a passion for the industry and recognized both the growth opportunities and potential it offered. Interesting & fun fact: I’m a foodie who loves seafood (crab legs are my favorite), a fashion enthusiast with a passion for red and I smoke cigars and travel with my cigar ladies group, Sister Of The Leaf.
