How will this help you step up in your career?
I now feel very confident with working with numbers and a budget and not messing it up, so I feel like one day when I do get a leadership position, I will be prepared for all facets of that role. What advice do you have for others in the hospitality industry who are looking for ways to grow their career? Take classes, read books, and talk to professionals! Always keep learning, and build your skill set and confidence. When you believe in yourself and you have an education to back you up, anything is possible. What was your favorite part of the HTIM financial course? I liked the slideshow presentations to read from and take notes/practice! How long have you been working in the industry? Just under two years. Can you share more background on your current role? I am a hotel room housekeeper, which means I clean rooms in the Splash Village waterpark and hotel. I am responsible for stripping out laundry, making beds, cleaning all the furniture, counters, and windows, disinfecting the bathroom, restocking towels, and supplying amenities, as well as vacuuming and mopping. We also take care of our stayover guests, and deep clean the rooms when sales are low. I also help inspect, and make sure rooms meet standards before they are handed over to the guests to check in. What was your first job in hospitality? How did you get into this industry? My first job in hospitality was at a McDonald's as a Crew Member, and honestly, I only got started in it because it was the only job that offered me an interview! I've stuck around for so long because I love working with people, for people! Interesting & fun fact: A fun fact about me is that I'm a dog mom to three spoiled beagles! Comments are closed.
